Honorees
The HAMC Lillie Brandt Early Childhood Center From the time they arrived at the HAMC in 1975, Lillie and her husband Ron have devoted themselves to the school in many ways. Lillie and Ron’s three daughters, Shari, Allyssa and Rachel are all HAMC graduates. Lillie is best known for her work as a teacher in the ECC three-year-old class, but she has done so much more. Lillie has also served as a Board Member and Secretary of the Board, Parents’ Association President, ad journal Chair, library volunteer, transportation coordinator and editor of the monthly newsletter for parents. In addition, Lillie and Ron have served as lay leaders to the community at large. Ron served as President of Mount Freedom Jewish Center, Lillie has volunteered her time for Hadassah and Deborah Hospital and they both have been active volunteers with United Jewish Communities of MetroWest. Lillie’s passion for children and love for Judaism has contributed so much to the beautiful ECC program that has given generations of ECC children the foundation for “learning for life.” Distinguished Service Award Aron Schwartz and Amy Brunswick arrived at the Hebrew Academy of Morris County in 1990 when they enrolled their daughter Naomi in Lillie Brandt’s ECC 3’s class. Aron joined the HAMC Board of Trustees in 1993 and served on the Board until he stepped down in June 2009. From September 1994 until June 2009, Aron was Legal Counsel for the school and a member of the Executive Committee. While on the Board, Aron also served on a number of other committees, including the Tuition Assistance Committee, the Head of School Search Committee and the By-laws Revision Committee. Aron and Amy are very proud of their three HAMC graduates. Naomi (2001) recently graduated from Duke University and is currently spending a year doing environmental research in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on a Fulbright Scholarship. Daniel (2003) is a junior at University of Massachusetts, and Rebecca (2006) is a senior at Morristown High School. Aron is a partner in the law firm of Greenbaum, Rowe, Smith, & Davis LLP, with offices in Roseland and Woodbridge, where his specializes in employment law and is the Chair of the firm’s Employment Law Practice Group. The Hebrew Academy of Morris County takes pride in honoring the following teacher for her years of dedicated service to our school and students. Luiza Finberg teaches 4th, 6th and 7th Hebrew language and assists with the Mechina Hebrew track. Luiza also helps with the music program. When Luiza started at the HAMC, via Solomon Schechter Day School of Essex and Union, she taught Hebrew in the 4th grade, assisted in the art program and ran the music program. Luiza was born in Belarus, Russia where she graduated from Pedagogical University with an MA in early education. She lived in Israel for six and a half years where she continued her education at Achva Pedagogical College. Luiza and her husband, Stanislav, live in Livingston with their son Tal, who is in the eighth grade at the HAMC. Luiza often says when you move to a new place your wish is to find a new home. She feels she has found two homes for herself and her son Tal. Luiza loves the HAMC and feels very fortunate to be here with her colleagues and friends. |
